Challenge

DFCC Bank was set up in 1955 as Sri Lanka’s pioneer Development Finance Institution on the recommendation of the World Bank and is one of the oldest development banks in Asia.

In October 2015, DFCC Bank and its 99% owned subsidiary, DFCC Vardhana Bank amalgamated. DFCC Bank is now a Licensed Commercial Bank offering a range of development banking and commercial banking products and services.

Being a Digital Savvy and Pro-Transformation Bank, DFCC approached POTENZA to help them identify the best way of implementing end-to-end automation of key banking processes.

Solution

After an extensive consultation and discovery process, POTENZA’s Advanced Automation team provided a comprehensive road map for intelligent automation related transformation. The Bank chose Automation Anywhere as the platform of choice for this engagement where they required not only task automation but also cognitive automation through the use of their proprietary IQ bot technology.

By identifying and analyzing automation -appropriate processes in every department of the bank, POTENZA was able to rank all of the processes that could and should be automated. After wards a heat map showing the likelihood and impact of automating each process was presented to DFCC Management. This information in turn informed a comprehensive automation plan.

Stretched out in accordance to 4 different phases with clear timelines of completion was provided to the management. By appointing automation champions for each key department and kpi’s for completion, POTENZA started their engagement with the bank on their road to automation excellence.

What they say about us

Being the Pioneer Development Finance Institution in Sri Lanka, DFCC Bank takes pride in the use of technology in its banking operations. As a Bank we have been highly praised in adopting innovative channels and technology to better serve our customers. Similarly, we have significantly embraced various technological innovations within our internal banking operations as well. In this Conversation, POTENZA has engaged with us to ensure that process excellence and efficiency is at an utmost superior level through technologies such as RPA. POTENZA’s team looked at this engagement from an utmost holistic view where a detailed RPA road map was constructed to automate significant components of our operation. This was not only a technology implementation project but rather a comprehensive consulting engagement where both parties discussed and collaborated towards the bigger picture of how banking transformation was relevant to DFCC. This not only results in operational efficiency but enables us as a bank to use our human capital efficiently and effectively. We have built a strategic partnership with POTENZA where we envision to automate and optimize many more processes in the future which would significantly contribute to our Digital Transformation Journey.”
