BACARDI - DWH Development

Bacardi Limited

Bacardi’s journey began on February 4 when Don Facundo Bacardí Massó founded it in Santiago de Cuba. By revolutionizing the rum-making process, he created the renowned BACARDÍ® rum known for its smooth, light-bodied spirit.

Noticing fruit bats in the distillery, Facundo’s wife, Doña Amalia, suggested adopting the bat as the symbol of BACARDÍ rum, symbolizing good health, family unity, and good fortune to the Spanish and Cuban Taíno indigenous people. Locals soon referred to it as “el ron del murciélago” – the rum of the bat.

Facundo Bacardí Moreau, son of Don Facundo, planted a coconut palm at the front of the new distillery, known affectionately as El Coco. This palm, enduring a distillery fire, earthquakes, and hurricanes, became a symbol of strength and resilience for the Bacardí family and company. Local folklore even grew around the palm tree.

Impact

Enhanced Data Utilization: Improved utilization of hygiene-related audit data collected from iAuditor and other sources through structured storage in the Azure SQL data warehouse.

Streamlined Decision Making: Availability of Power BI dashboards facilitates analysis of valuable insights derived from the data warehouse.

Improved Compliance Management: Organizations can enhance compliance management processes by leveraging insights derived from the system.

Increased Operational Efficiency: The system enables organizations to streamline operational processes.

What was built?

The process involves automating the extraction of files to the Data Lake, with the Data Warehouse (DWH) ingesting this data. There is also automation in place for the transformations carried out on the source data by the Business Unit (BU). Specifically, for SAP and TM1 data, SAP extracts the data to an FTP location from which we retrieve and load it into the Data Lake, and subsequently into the DWH.

Why was it built?

Individuals are manually extracting files from SAP and TM1. These manually extracted files are then subject to modifications. Additionally, certain files are automatically extracted to SharePoint, specifically involving On Tap data.

How the client uses it for decision / business?

Current data transformations are conducted within Data Flows to generate the final outputs. The expectation is to eliminate all data Flows and transition them to Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Stored Procedures for a more streamlined process
